By 1891-1892, the EIC (chartered company of Belgium in the Congo) centered its operations along the rivers and became a monoploy in the production of rubber and ivory.

In 1893, Great Brittain built the Ugandan Railway at the cost of 8 million pounds. The Railway streches from Victoria Nyanza through the East African Protectorate.
